My new role model - Sushmita Sen

Both Part 1 and 2 of the above combined is the full interview between Sushmita Sen and the interviewer. One of the most engaging interviews I've ever watched because the interviewer is really good as well. You can see that through the questions that lead in to the crux of the interview.

Anyway, Sushmita Sen is one fucken eloquent lady. Apologies for being so vulgar but dayum, she speaks so damn well. So honest, so poised and so elegant. I admire this lady and the values that she stands for. I even see myself relating to her quite a bit? She is so bloody eloquent and what a role model she is! I love how she represents and respects herself as a woman in today's society. I can feel her confidence EMANATING.

Not only that, she is 38 and a single unwedded mom to 2 daughters. And why is that note-worthy you may wonder?
Single mom not because she had borne the two children out of wedlock but because she ADOPTED her 2 girls. What's more, in Indian culture it's almost illegal for an unwedded woman to do so but I suppose coz of her influence, the courts overturned their decision and approved it.

She's quite mature at 38 to be a single lady but I love how she doesn't care about societal standards that by what age, you need to marry. She believes so much in being READY for a commitment before nose diving in.

She says she just KNOWS when she's ready. Can you imagine? She said she was ready to be a MOM at 25 that was why she adopted her first daughter. Wtf right?! 25. I don't think I'd be ready for motherhood in 3 years' time man and here she was making such a bold move to adopt a child and raise her on her own. Forgoing all expectations in Indian society.

There's more to her as well. And that comes with her past.

She must've been very precocious, because at an early age, at 18, she had achieved something that was impressive way beyond her years.

She won Miss Universe in 1994. Not Miss India Universe but freakin Miss Universe. THE UNIVERSE. At 18. She had taken the world by storm at a tender age of 18.

Hello I was studying for my A levels at 18 and here she was owning the stage.

She was so damn eloquent and confident at that age I was utterly gobsmacked and blown away by her performance in 1994. She is so amazing this woman. Not forgetting bea-u-ti-ful! You have to watch her speak in these videos.

Argh. Here I am at 5am still awake because I was glued to her and charmed by how she speaks and carries herself in these interviews and events.

Sushmita is definitely going into my book of 'Women I look up to'.
